Working Before Expression
THE EPURIA STORY
The Idea Behind Epuria
Epuria was founded on a simple principle: origin expertise matters.
Rather than sourcing coffee from dozens of producing countries, Epuria focuses on understanding one origin deeply—Indonesia. Indonesia’s coffee landscape spans thousands of islands, perfect terroir mountains, and diverse growing environments. Each region produces coffees with distinct character shaped by soil, climate, and traditional processing methods.
Epuria works at the stage before expression—sourcing coffees that allow roasters to bring out their full potential.
INDONESIA: A COFFEE ARCHIPELAGO
Indonesia is one of the most geographically diverse coffee origins in the world.
Coffee grows across multiple islands along the equator, often in volcanic soils rich in minerals.
Major producing regions include:
Sumatra, Java, Bali, Sulawesi
These regions produce coffees known for:
Chocolate sweetness, spice complexity, rich body, and balanced acidity.
This diversity allows Indonesian coffees to perform well across many roasting applications.
PROCESSING METHODS INDONESIA
From Global Techniques to Indonesian Identity
Coffee processing shapes how a coffee performs — influencing structure, flavour, and consistency in the cup.
Across global production, a range of processing methods are used:
Washed (Fully Washed)
Clean, structured, with defined acidity
Wet-Hulled (Giling Basah)
Distinctly Indonesian, producing heavier body and lower acidity
Natural (Dry)
Fruit-dried, resulting in fuller body and fruit-forward profiles
Honey
Partial mucilage retained, creating balanced sweetness
Anaerobic
Controlled fermentation, often more complex and expressive
Carbonic Maceration
CO₂-driven fermentation, typically more aromatic
Our Focus
At Epuria, we focus on the methods that define Indonesian coffee — Washed and Wet-Hulled (Giling Basah) — applied across a curated range of Arabica and Robusta coffees.

EPURIA PHILOSOPHY
Coffee flavor does not begin in the roaster.
It begins at the origin—in soil, altitude, harvest timing, and processing choices.
Epuria works before expression, sourcing coffees that allow roasters to reveal their full potential.
